A Texas Holdem Lesson On How To Play And Win Holdem

A Texas Holdem Lesson On How To Play And Win Holdem
This Texas Holdem lesson will cover all the basics plus strategy and mindset critical to playing and winning rounds of Holdem. Read it now.
One of the more recent crazes to reach mainstream culture has been the obsession with poker. Poker has varied rules by which it can be played, but the most popular version today is Texas Hold Em.
Though this is not the traditional game that has been the game of legend through the Old West, this is an interesting game that draws players of all ages.
To play Texas Hold Em, one must understand the basic rules first. Each player receives two cards face down that only they are allowed to see. Then, there are a communal set of cards dealt into the middle for all players to include as part of their hand.
From this point, it is a matter of strategy and clear thinking that sets an average player apart from a great one.
Texas Holdem Lesson - Understanding Basic Strategy
One cannot expect to be successful at any kind of poker without understanding how the cards relate to one another. One must know whether the hand they possess is viable to continue on in this round of the game.
Traditionally, one is able to easily asses if they have pairs or three of a kind. One can have multiple pairs in one hand. They may also obtain what is called a full house.
This is the based on the ideal that one has one pair and three of a kind in the same hand. What makes the winning determination in these hands is the value of the cards.
If one has a pair of 2a and three kings on the table, they would be superseded by someone with a pair of 6s. One must use their betting strategy accordingly.
Texas Holdem Lesson - Additional Hands
You must also understand the additional hands of poker.
A straight is a hand based in consecutive numbers. Usually, this would be defined as a five card run such as 2-6 or 10-Ace.
A flush would be at least five cards of the same suit, such as five clubs or five diamonds. In a rare situation, one may obtain a straight-flush, which is the existence of both these conditions. These are considered very good hands and should be bet appropriately.
Texas Holdem Lesson - Maintaining Clear Thinking And Emotions
It is critical to realize that body language and facial expressions are a key part to understanding poker. The old adage about the "poker face" is very true.
If someone shows too much excitement, their opponents will anticipate that they have a really good hand and will adjust their betting strategy accordingly. It is important for the player to realize this as well.
When approaching the hand, remember to stay cool, calm and collected. One has to treat poker much as they would chess. It is a game of strategy, and it is important to try to stay one step ahead of your opponent.
You must remember to keep their emotions in check, and try to play aloof as not to be discovered by their opponents. Skills of staying calm under pressure are helpful in this environment, and reading more Texas Holdem lessons will enable to you easily acquire this skill.

Poker Theme Parties - Guaranteed Event to Make Your Guests Completely Happy

Poker Theme Parties - Guaranteed Event to Make Your Guests Completely Happy
Theme parties are definitely the "in" thing nowadays. Prom night, Pajama, Masquerade and Luau are the most common themes for parties and sometimes, we need to stretch our imagination a bit more, getting away from the conventional themes to ensure a truly unforgettable party experience. Are you ready for a Poker-themed Party? Here are some pointers that could help you make your poker party a worthwhile experience for you and your friends.
You can actually choose the decoration yourself so that you can get the casino feel once your guests come in. Watch their eyes get bigger of amazement on how you've managed to transform your room into a Las Vegas corner. If you think getting the real poker tables would be a little too costly, you can just improvise by getting some large green felt paper and cover the tables with it. Make sure to attach it really smoothly until you get that poker table feel. You can also get playing cards to serve as the invitations to your poker-themed party. You just need someone who will write legibly on them. Something hand-made is always better than something machine-made. You get to apply some personal touches to it which makes the event more significant and memorable for you and for your guests. If you want that casino-type of environment, you can also get lights set up at the venue of your poker party which will add a more Las Vegas feel to it. If you want balloons, you can have them designed with playing cards and poker chips for the imprints. However, not too many poker players find balloons very entertaining because they find it a little distracting during a game.
And speaking of distractions, make sure that your visitors roll up their long sleeves to prevent them from hiding cards during a game. You don't want to end up losing in your own party just because someone pulled their poker trick on you. By the way, you might want to ask your guests to bring in their own set of poker chips for back up. You don't want to end a good game early just when everything's getting hot because you ran out of chips to provide the players with. Trust me on that. They will remember you for a poker party that ended too soon.
Another important thing to make sure of is the food. You don't have to get a catering service to serve food in your poker party. It's a poker party and not a binge out party. Having pizza delivered is a good idea because most people who play poker would agree that ordering pizza and being able to eat it conveniently at once is better to lower the down time in poker. You may also serve pica-picas but be sure to avoid serving them to everyone like a waiter because you'd end up distracting the poker players. Making this party a success really depends on how well you manage your guests and your venue. If everything turns out better than expected, you have a blossoming new career ahead of you.

Texas Hold'em No Limit Poker - My Review

Texas Hold'em No Limit Poker - My Review
Texas Hold'em No-Limit Poker, unlike many other poker strategy and poker theory books, is clearly a pleasure to read. The information and strategies that this book present are simply priceless. This Texas Hold'em book does a terrific job of laying out the differences between home games, online games, and cash games, and tournament poker.
This book on Texas Hold'em strategy does a good job explaining the theory and more advanced plays that a poker player simply must understand before improving his or her poker game. I'd even go so far as to say that this poker book goes far and above even some of the Texas Hold'em books that are marketed by some of the biggest names in the game today. This book on poker is simply that good.
Texas Hold'em No-Limit Poker is loaded with lots of great game play information and tons of advanced strategies and good poker tips. The author provides a bird's eye view of the game of Texas Hold'em and then moves into the in-depth play by play mode that is required to learn the intricacies of Texas Hold'em. Once other critical idea that is covered by this great poker book is the importance of managing a bankroll.
If that weren't enough, the author gives a complete overview of where to play Hold'em whether on-line, with friends or in a card room. This book provides useful tips like how to handle hotheads and the difference between good skimming and bad skimming.
Overall, this poker book is written in an authoritative, yet easy to read, manner. If you buy one poker book this year, make it this one.

A Crazy Pineapple Poker Primer

A Crazy Pineapple Poker Primer
Crazy pineapple poker is one the most unusual variations of poker around with its peculiar rules and yet it has some of the characteristics of the very popular Texas Hold'em poker variety. Crazy pineapple consists of many twists and turns which give the players several possible hand variations and the increased odds afforded by the extra card. Since there are many unfamiliar rules and plays, it is most advisable that a player new to the game educate himself by observing several games and reading the written material on crazy pineapple before placing that first bet.
Crazy Pineapple Poker Format
There is nothing unusual about how the game begins where two players place a blind ante prior to the deal. The deal consists of each player receiving three cards. This is followed by the first round of betting and the flop, where three community cards are shown to the table by the dealer. This initial betting round is fairly standard poker, but what follows is anything but standard and gives the game its name. Strategies and game plays are chaotically scrambled. This is the reason for the warning in the first paragraph. Do not play Pineapple without doing your homework and mastering the rules and how the betting works.
After the bet following the flop, players can trade in of the of the three hold cards in their hand, wherein the game resembles Texas Hold'em somewhat. This trade of the one card intensifies the complexity of the game and the players need to have a firm grasp on bluffing, pot sizes, and positioning. The format of the game again resembles Texas Hold'em after the second round of bets are placed - the best 5-card hand wins the round using the hole cards and community cards. There are more opportunities in Pineapple to make flushes, straights and three of a kind from the draw cards.
Some Angles to Employ in Crazy Pineapple Poker
Since pineapple has a high variance, it is probably to the player's advantage to have experience in determining odds very quickly and often. There may be many a player who remains active after the flop in hopes that their hand will be improved upon at trade-in, and this is also a chance to value bet should you have a formidable opening hand. It often happens, too, that a large percentage of the players fortify the pot up to the river, giving them yet another opportunity to increase their pot earnings. While it is not an easy strategy to pull off, some combo of aggression and patience after the turn is a terrific plan to ensure success at bringing the pot contents your way time and again.
The opening hands with high suited cards or high pairs are the ones with which you want to start your play as they are the tops and can morph into an increased hand value with their potential for flushes and straights. Remember that the larger number of visible cards produces a winning hand that is superior to Hold'em so consequently you must adjust your pot hopes. If you hold a pair into a flop, you are making a wise move unless the board reveals a strong chance of hitting a straight, flush or full house. Slow game play is a ploy for many players but being aggressive at the right moment can daze and confuse your opponents. Scrambling your moves and strategies will increase your chances of success when your hand is solid. Use semi-bluffs in Pineapple as a means to increase your stack. The mixed up strategy modus operandi will pay dividends at the table and keep you on your toes.

Introducing No Limit Texas Holdem

Introducing No Limit Texas Holdem
No limit Texas Holdem Poker is not the game most people think it is. If you're looking for an easy game where the best hand always wins, this isn't it. This is the game of champions and the most popular tournament poker game on TV, in the casinos and online.
No limit Texas Holdem poker is is played differently than any holdem game you've played. The general rules are the same as other forms of holdem but that is as far as the similarities go. Of course, the winning card combinations are also the same, but it requires much more strategy and skill to win, even if you are in possession of the best hand. The key is to have good holdem no limit strategy.
The goal of the game is to win all the money, not necessarily win all the hands. That's because you focus on raking all of the other players' chips and that doesn't necessarily require you to win every hand. The size of your chip stack determines how long you'll stay in the game.
It's important for you to have a thorough understanding of how pot odds work if you want to come out a winner playing no limit hold em poker. The next most important thing for you to understand is how to build up the size of the pot.
Pot odds are the ratio between the size of the current pot and your cost to complete an anticipated play. Suppose the pot size is $100, and you have to call a $10 bet to remain in the game. Your odds are 100-to-10 or 10:1. Some players prefer to convert these odds to a percentage. To do that, simply add the two pot odds numbers together and then divide by the smaller one. For example, if your pot odds are 3:1, add 3 1 and then divide by 1. In this instance, that would equal 0.25 or 25%.
You should be constantly looking to give yourself great pot odds while forcing your opponents to play against lousy pot odds. When you learn pot building skills, and combine them with the knowledge of how pot odds work, you can very often entice your opponents to fold even if they might have a solid hand.
That's the way to end up winning all of your opponents' chips and walking away the big winner at the next game of no limit Texas Holdem poker.

Make a Living Playing Online Poker - Get The Right Mindset

Make a Living Playing Online Poker - Get The Right Mindset
The first question you must ask yourself if you want to make a living playing poker is if you have the right mindset for playing the game full-time? The fact of the matter is that the majority of people don't have the right attitude and personality to make a living playing poker full-time, although with coaching you can greatly improve your skill and winnings. It is imperative that you posses willpower over your emotions and self-discipline.
If you are looking to emulate the poker celebrities you see on TV with their flashy appearance and nonchalant attitude then making a living playing poker is probably not a smart career move for you. True, those celebrities had to start somewhere but do you really think they started out with the same attitude they posses now? No, they started out right where you are currently and they represent only a tiny percentage of the poker players out there playing the game for a living.
If you take a look at people who have built up profitable and lasting income treating poker as a business you will notice they all posses the skill of effective money management. You won't find them flashing their fat wallets or bragging about how much they're making playing poker online. After all if you announce that you are in possession of a lot of money you might as well paint a bulls-eye on your forehead because that will make you a prime poker target - and not in a good way!
Willpower over your actions and emotions at the table and self-discipline with your bankroll are the most important factors if you want to make a living playing poker online. Balancing your lifestyle is important for success, even if you are making good money at the online poker games does not mean you should go squander your winnings by gambling on sports or other casino games. Don't start living a lifestyle you are not experienced enough to maintain just because you had a hot winning streak.
Playing poker online full-time means you need to treat poker as a business That means learning to manage your bankroll both at the table and your personal accounts - always keep savings to mitigate the risks of a dry spell. Educate yourself with the resources available on the market (other people have done this so learn from what they have to say!) And finally diversify, there are more ways to make money with poker than just playing the game, for example become an affiliate for a few of your favorite poker sites.
You don't have to be the best poker player out there to be successful, all you need is the right mindset and self-discipline, and then you stand a better chance of being successful than most of the players out there!

Jokers Are Not Included in Texas Hold'em, But Showdowns Are

Jokers Are Not Included in Texas Hold'em, But Showdowns Are
Whether you play online or at a casino the game remains static. You play at a special poker table whereby many payers can play at the same time or maybe only two or three players play at a time. Once you have chosen a table and are ready to play each player will be dealt two cards which are dealt face down and the player that is the small blind will be the first to receive a card and the button seat player will receive the last card that is dealt by the dealer. The deck that is used for poker games comprises of 52 cards and the jokers are excluded.
Once the hand is dealt they players will start betting which begins with the player sitting to the left of the dealer that is if no blinds were used and then continues in a clockwise direction and the betting will continue until every player has either folded or put in their chips or have matched the amount which was put in by all the remaining players.
Once this has taken place and the betting round is completed and there maybe only two players left the dealer will then deal three cards which are face up and then there will be a second betting round and again follow the clockwise sequence with the player starting on the left hand side of the dealer. Once this second betting round ends a single card will be dealt face up by the dealer followed by the third betting round.
After the third betting the players all decide to fold and no more betting takes place then the remaining player will win the pot and that player is not required to show his hand. But if there are more players remaining after the final bet then a showdown will take place. Each player will now have to play the best hand from their seven cards. Once they show their cards and a player has high cards or a suit he takes the pot but if there are more players that have suitable hands then the pot is split equally and if there are any extra chips the first player will be awarded them.
When playing hold'em all the numerical cards are important and the suit cards don't have much value so when determining a good hand such as 2 pairs or maybe 3 of a kind then hold onto these cards. When playing this game you definitely need to have strategy and an excellent approach and the kind of strategy needed is by playing relatively a few hands and raising and betting more often. Most professional players use various different strategies besides the aggressive and tight strategy.
Due to the complexity of this game optimal strategy still needs to be explored and there are various academics that are developing artificial intelligence as well as game theory techniques whereby players especially professional players can improve their strategy. Strategy is not only needed for playing Texas hold'em but also for betting. Strategy is also needed for a no limit and a fixed limit cash game as both these types differ considerably and the players that are used to playing no limit find it extremely difficult to play fixed limit and vice versa.
The correct strategy when playing in tournaments is imperative. In a tournament the amount of chips a player has as opposed to the other players is important and the playing styles of the player's opponents are also of great consequence. Some recommend playing less hands and other recommend playing more hands. If one intends becoming a professional you will have to do some serious reading and keep practicing as practice makes perfect.

How to Make a Full-Time Income Playing Online Texas Holdem Poker

How to Make a Full-Time Income Playing Online Texas Holdem Poker
Making a living playing online poker is certainly not for everyone. However, it can definitely be done. And for some it can be accomplished easier than you ever thought possible. Follow these seven steps and discover if making a living playing online poker is right for you.
1) Know What Games to Play
If you want to make a decent living playing online poker you must know what games to play. Yes, I can tell you which ones are more profitable than others but this decision is also dependent on you as an individual.
You personality and behavior traits are important ingredients to deciding which games to play. For example, if you are an impatient person don't play Free Roll tournaments. These tournaments usually take a minimum of fours hours to complete and the payout is very low for the time invested. You may be better off playing short-handed sit-n-gos.
On the other hand, if you're a fisherman who can sit out on your boat for six hours and not worry about even getting a bite on your line than big tournaments may be worth it to you.
2) Know Where to Play
Believe it or not some poker rooms are better to play than others. I have my list that I play at exclusively. But this has taken some trial and error and research to figure out. The reason I play at the rooms that I do is because, frankly, they're easier to win at. They have more inexperienced players that I can beat easily.
3) Use a Proven System
Flying by the seat of your pants is not an acceptable nor winning poker strategy. If you're new to poker it may be wise for you to do some research on different poker strategies to discover what works best for you. For example,  or  show you exactly how to win using multiple proven systems.
Don't worry you can always adjust it and update to fit your personality and playing style. But please understand you must have a system and apply that system if you want to win consistently. You can even use this proven starting hand system to get you started off on the right foot.
4) Manage Your Bankroll Properly
Don't jump into a $100 sit-n-go 10-person table if you're just starting out. Get a feel for the game by playing at the smaller buy-ins and then move up the ranks to the larger buy-in tables.
I will say this. The money is made at the larger buy-in tables. For example the $30-$50 buy-ins. The reason? Because you don't have as many crazies as you do at the $5 tables. What I mean is anybody and everybody will play like a fool when they're only risking $5. But when they're playing with $30 or $50 they play a lot differently. However, they can still be beat quite easily!
5) Know When to Stop Playing and When to Keep it Rolling
If you're down on your luck stop playing for awhile. It makes no sense to keep playing when the cards aren't coming for you. On the other hand if you're on a winning streak play as long as you can. There is no reason to buck the trend when its going your way.
6) Schedule Quiet, Uninterrupted Time to Play
To be really successful in online poker you need to play in an uninterrupted, quiet setting. I do poker coaching for some of my students and it kills me when they have their two year old in their lap trying to play poker. How can the possible stay focused? They can't! Don't make that mistake.
7) Know What Time of Day to Play
Everyone is different here. Some say don't play during the day because that's when all the pros play. Others say don't play at night because that's when all the pros play. To me it doesn't matter when you play as long as you are following a sound strategy and system.
However, if you are mentally weak and need a perfect time of day to play. Test it out for yourself and then make a plan to play at that time every day.
Follow these seven steps and you'll be well on your way to making a living playing online poker.

What is the Theory of Poker?

What is the Theory of Poker?
Do you know the definition of theory? According to the definition found in , theory is a suggestion, whose standing is still speculative. In other words a theory is like a hypothesis. A hypothesis is an educated guess based on what you already know about the specific subject you are speculating. (It is not something you say just because it pops into your head.) Based on this information, what do you think is the theory of poker? Or better yet, does poker even have a theory?
Before we decide if the game does or does not have a theory, let us gather up all the information we know about poker. If you have ever done some research on poker you probably know that the origin of poker is very shady. (No one really knows were, when or how poker started.) Some people believe poker was created in china, wile other say poker is an original American card game. (Well, you can flush this approach down the toilet.)
Okay, now lets state all the things we do know about poker. Poker is the most popular game around the world and you can play it both online and offline. Over the years, different varieties of poker have been invented. Although there are many different varieties of poker, the same basic rule apply to most of them because the aim for most of the varieties of poker is the same; at the end of the game one player has to have the best possible five-card poker hand on their hand. Each style of poker has its own strategies which can lead to success when you know them.
Now that we know what we know, lets go back to the theory of poker. Since very little is known about poker itself, except for the rules of each poker game, I personally think that there is not a theory to poker, at least not one that everyone can agree to. What to you think? Do you disagree or agree with me?
What ever your answer may be to the theory of poker, one thing that we can all agree on is that poker is a fun game to play. Although at the begging poker may be a bit difficult to understand, once you get the hang of it, playing poker can be a piece of cake.
Now, just for the fun of it let me tell you some of the variations of poker you can choose from. Texas hold'em, five-card draw, seven-card stud, Razz, Omaha high, Chinese poker, crazy pineapple, deuce-to-seven, double-flop Texas hold'em, Omaha hold'em, Texas hold'em, five card stud, pineapple hold'em high poker, pineapple hold'em high-low split, joker poker, let it ride and let it ride bonus, Vegas double action, and Caribbean stud poker. Don't you dare think these are all the variations available in poker!
Forget about the theory of poker if it does not make sense to you or if thinking about is giving you a headache. Just worry about what variety of poker you want to play and of having fun wile playing it. Adios, and have fun!

Texas Hold 'Em Tip - Taking Control of the Hand

Texas Hold 'Em Tip - Taking Control of the Hand
Today's Texas hold 'em tip is about how to take control of the hand you are currently playing in. Most professional poker players tell new players that they should play less hands when starting out to maximize their winning potential. This is only part of the story. Once you enter into the hand you have to know how to control it, when to bet, and when to fold. We'll be examining a variety of situations and betting patterns. Let's get started.
Most passive players, both loose and tight fall victim to this style of betting pattern. They raise pre-flop with a hand like Ace King, then bet regardless of what happens on the flop. For the tight player this bet comes out of both frustration and desperation as they've waited so patiently to finally pick up a hand and can't believe that they didn't catch or they're hoping no one else has anything and will just go away. The mindset of the loose passive player would be similar as they finally picked up a strong hand and are hoping their opponents still think they're playing a trash hand.
Now this action can backfire depending on what type of opponent you're up against. In some cases a strong player may have picked up on what cards you're holding and is now going to re-raise your bet to put you to the test. This leaves you with two options, move over the top of him and hope he either folds or you catch, or fold giving all the chips you just bet to the aggressor.
A better option here would be to base your play off of the types of opponents you currently have in the pot. If you have a loose aggressor in the hand your best option if you don't hit is simply to check as loose aggressors play such a variety of hands you may be losing at this point to a pair of threes. In the case of a tight aggressor in the hand, they may have a small pocket pair, trips, or are simply trying to bluff you out of the pot. Looking through previous hand histories should give you an idea of which three categories your tight aggressor currently fits into.
When it comes to chasing a straight or a flush most passive players fall into this style of play - call pre-flop, check-call the flop, check-call the turn, and either fold, check-call, or bet on the river depending on whether or not they hit. The river bet could also be applied to the turn bet if they hit on the turn, minus the fold. Now this style of betting pattern only gives you one option to really win the hand - you have to hit your draw or hold a stronger pair than your opponent. There really are no opportunities to try and take away the hand from your opponent, and a bluff on the river will result in an immediate call.
Instead of check-calling all the way to the river, you would be better off either betting on the flop or check-raising on the flop. Both betting strategies would put your opponent on the defensive in the hand as opposed to the offensive. At this point he would be left with two options - fold to your bet or check-raise or call. There is a third option of a re-raise, which would signal to you that there is no way a semi-bluff at the pot will work, which tells you exactly where you stand in relation to your opponents cards. Assuming your opponent doesn't re-raise your bet or check-raise he will be left wondering what exactly you're holding. If you originally check-raised the flop you should come out with a strong bet on the turn. Once again he's left to either call or fold to your bet. On the river, regardless of if you hit or not your actions throughout the hand dictate a strong hand, which means in most cases your opponent will fold his middle pair, draw, or whatever he was holding.
In some cases this Texas hold 'em tip won't work - if your opponent is new or is a calling station he'll continue to call along with you to the river. In this case you're increasing the pot size and if he doesn't hit you're looking at a nice pay day. If he does somehow catch, you've lost some chips, which is why I suggest playing against calling stations with slightly smaller bets than you would against someone who actually knows what they're doing. You could also be up against an opponent who loves to trap or slow-play. A quick glance through previous hand histories should tell you whether or not you're up against this type of opponent, in which case you know you shouldn't bet at them to keep their winnings small. The third case would consist of a tight passive player who is calling along with you. Tight passives are less inclined to bet, as they lack confidence in both their hand and playing ability. If a tight passive is calling along, you should probably stop betting.

The History of Poker

The History of Poker
There is a major schism in relation to the origins of poker and there are a number of different theories on offer. The true origins of the game are obfuscated by virtue of the fact that there is little to no evidence to provide any insight as to the precise origins of the game. What is clear however, is that poker as we know it today is the hybrid offspring of several games combined.
Jonathan H. Green provided one of the earliest written records to the game of Poker, dating back to 1834 and in his memoirs it was he who dubbed the game Poker purely because it had no name at that time. What inspired this particular choice of moniker remains unknown.
Relying on his well written and thorough notes, which were meticulous in their level of detail, Green makes a reference to no less than 20 playing cards, and this included the 3 royalty cards, the Aces, and the tens. Green also mentioned that typically four players would be present and each player would be dealt a grand total of five cards each. Green referred to poker as that "cheating game" and it seems that whilst it was quickly growing in popularity it was solely relied upon by the cardsharps in an attempt to fleece their victims.
The precise origins of the actual word "Poker" has also been a topic of much academic discussion and hypothesising and whilst the common belief seems to be that it stems from the old French game of poque, there are others who are not entirely convinced by this. Other people have argued that the game draws its roots from a German game referred to as pochspiel. The reason for this is because pochspiel was renowned for the players having to be very cunning and required to bluff in order to get a result.
Another explanation that has been offered for the origins of poker is that it is derived from a slang term "poke" which was an expression used typically among pickpockets. The belief then is that cardsharps, who were widely regarded as pickpockets who used cards rather than brute force adopted the poke word and then added on an r to the end in order to warn their fellow tricksters of a potential victim.
One theory which has raised eyebrows has been that the term poke itself was derived from the expression "hocus-pocus" which was used by magicians. The game of poker later on then went on to include no less than 32 cards, eventually growing from there to include the now 52.
Poker has developed and changed dramatically throughout the years, and it has came a long way from a dirty little game that was only ever played in the seediest bars to becoming a popular and common game that has enjoyed fans from the world over.
Poker is strictly controlled and carefully controlled by numerous gambling laws and it has became the most commonly played card game across the world. It has also managed to become a major sporting event which has attracted competitors and competitions from across the globe, with major tournaments such as the World Poker Tour and World Series Of Poker attracting huge television audiences. To be totally honest, a tournament is held nearly every week at least somewhere in the whole world, and that is a true measure of the popularity of the game, so whether you're playing small limit home games, online sit and gos or fancy a shot at a WPT title, why not put your skills to the test and have a game!

The most preferred number of players in the casinos is 8, as this is best so you can play a fast, dynamic and interesting game. Playing with 10 men predisposes to excessive protection and slow play, which is not good for the bets.
The player who has the highest card is called the Dealer and he gets the so-called "dealer button". This shows that conditions he dealt the cards.
Next to him there are two players known as the small and the big blind. These are players who have to bet before the cards are dealt. The small blind bets half of the minimum bet and the big blind must bet the whole minimum bet.
According to the Texas Hold Em Poker Rules each subsequent player can break the game throwing his cards when it came his turn. But to stay in the game for further stages, he must pay the minimum bet or raise the stakes. This is a very key moment in the game, because that way he can force the next player to pay a higher amount.
Well, now we reach to the main component of the Texas Hold Em, which is the force of the arms. To be able to win, you must know when and what you hold in your hands.
Royal Flush - this is the best hand in the Texas Hold Em. If you have this hand you will surely win the hand. And if you fail to pre-raise bets will win a large sum of money.
Straight Flush - these are five consecutive cards of the same suit. Here the probability to win the deal is almost 100%.
Four cards of the same - here it is important to say that if on the table does not have 3 cards of same suit or the same two cards higher than yours - you surely win, no matter what your opponent holds.
Full House - this is a combination of three identical cards, supplemented by two other identical cards of another suit. This is a very strong hand especially if you include your full same highest card on the table.
Flush - in practice it is five cards of the same suit which are not consistent. If in a distribution happened that a few players have a flush, it wins the player with the highest card included in the flush.
Straight - it is a combination of five cards that are not of the same suit. It is important to know that Ace can be used both the highest and the lesser card.
Three of a kind - the name itself shows what a combination it is.
Two pairs - that represents a combination of two cards of the same supplemented by two identical cards and one other of them.
Pair - Or two identical cards. So far so good! Remember that in the Texas Hold Em strong hands like Royal Flush consists of 5 consecutive cards of the same suit. Very often the new players understand this wrong and think that four consecutive are also very strong hand, but there are not.
According to the Texas Hold Em Poker Rules, four consecutive are anything and five consecutive are very strong hand. Sometimes in poker, players fail to make any of the above combinations. In this case, winning player will be the one with the highest card.

Objectives of Poker and How to Play Texas Holdem

Objectives of Poker and How to Play Texas Holdem
Poker is probably the most popular of all card games in existence, thanks in part to an exciting format, huge sums of money that is regularly on offer, and the swings and roundabouts that come with a game with an element of luck. Even with an element of luck, playing winning poker takes a good amount of skill and some time to master. This guide will take you through some of the basics poker rules and also more generally, how to play poker.
First of all, let's consider what the objectives of poker are in a game of poker. The objective of most is to win money. To do that, players would need to eithermake it to showdown with the best 5 card hand OR force everyone else out of the hand, thus winning the pot. Most games are played against the same standard ranking of hands however, there are a few variants that use slight variations to this standard. For this article we will focus on Texas Hold'em mainly as it's the most popular game and a good place to start out as a new player.
Texas Hold'em
Texas Hold'em is the party favourite and carries the most traffic, both live and online. It is the game that is featured in most major poker tournaments or televised cash games.
It's known as a community card game for the reason that there are shared cards that are used by all players, when trying to make their best 5 card hand. In short, each player will get two private cards, dealt face down, better known as hole cards. These cards are only seen by the player they are dealt to. Throughout the game there will be a number of betting rounds and 5 community or shared cards that will be dealt. These cards are dealt face up. Players will try to make the best 5 card hand using any combination of the 7 available cards to them (2 private cards and 5 shared cards). This same principle applies across all poker games.
Something that makes the game really unique is that a player doesn't have to have the best hand to win. Imagine you've got ten people and gave them one card each and told them to race up a hill. The person who got up there would be first, automatically winning. If there was a tie, the two players would hold up the card they were given and the highest card would win. Poker is similar in principle. The player who stays in the hand all the way and has the best hand would take down the pot. If there is only one person who makes it up the hill or who stays in the hand, they would be the winner, regardless of the card or hand they held. So if only one made it to the top of the hill, he would win, no matter his hand.
Structure of the Game
Ok, let's look at how the game is actually played. When starting a game, it's normal for each player to be dealt a card. The highest card gets the dealer button or button. The button acts as an indicator as to who is dealt cards first, and also who posts the blinds. The blinds are automatic bets that are made to ensure each pot has some money to play for (or there would be no incentive to play anything but the top hands). The blinds consist of two automatic bets, the small blind, posted by the player to the immediate left of the button, and the big blind, the player two seats to the left of the button. The small blind is usually half of the value of the big blind. Once these bets are posted, all players are dealt 2 cards face down.
Players will now need to decide whether to play the hand or not, starting with the player to the left of the big blind (or 3 left of the dealer button). This would, in large, be down to the two cards the player has been dealt (although there are other factors which I will cover separately). A player has the choice to call, fold or raise. Here are definitions for each action:
Fold- to throw your cards into the muck and take no further part in the hand. By doing so, you lose your stake in the pot.
Call- to match the highest bet made so far. If the highest bet is the big blind, then that must be matched to stay in the hand. If a player raises, all other players will need to 'call the raise' or match it, to stay in the hand.
Raise- this would be a bet that would be more than the big blind and a sign of strength (a good hand). If a player was to raise and all other players folded, he will win the pot by default, regardless of the strength of his hand.
So play moves clockwise around the table until all players have either called, raised or folded.
Once all players have completed this initial betting round, the first three community or shared cards are dealt. These are dealt face up on the table. The first 3 cards dealt in Hold'em are known as 'the flop'. All shared cards that are dealt are known as board cards or referred to as 'the board'. At this stage, players will be trying to assemble their best 5 card hand from the 2 in their hand and the 3 on the board. Some players might already have made their hand and others might need cards, still to come, to make their hand. Either way, with 2 shared cards still to come, players will have a good indication as to the strength of their holding and their chances of hitting one of the cards they may need.
A second betting round now takes place and again players, moving clockwise, have the choice to fold their cards, call or raise. Once this betting round is complete, a fourth community card is dealt face up, otherwise known as 'the turn', 'the turn card' or 'fourth street'. There is then a third betting round with all remaining players and then a fifth and final card (known as 'fifth street' or the 'river card') is dealt to the board, again face up (all shared cards are dealt face up). There is one final found of betting, conducted in the same manner as the previous rounds, and then the showdown.
During each betting round, it is usual for some players to fold their hand, either as the betting is too much for the strength of hand they have, or they fail to hit their cards needed to make a strong hand. At showdown, any player left in the hand would turn over their hole cards to reveal their hand. The best 5 card poker hand wins the pot (which would be a collection of blinds and all bets).
Key additional Points
- If all players fold, leaving one player in the hand, the hand ends there and the remaining player wins the hand.
- If a player is all in (.i.e. has bet all his available chips, he would only be able to win the same amount that had been wagered from each player in the hand). If players who had more than the all-in player continued to bet, a side pot would be formed.
- If two players have the same hand at showdown, the winner is determined by the best kicker. For instance if player 1 has the hand A-A-2-3-4 and player 2 had A-A-2-3-8, both players would have a pair of aces but player 2 would have the next highest card, the 8 (compared with player 1 who's next highest is a 4). Ace is the highest kicker possible.

Not a great deal is known about Texas Holdem History. While knowledge of its origins will not help your strategy at card play, knowing the game's roots can make for some interesting trivia.
Poker has been around for centuries, some suggesting as far back as the 1900s. There are those who think that the game dates back to the Renaissance period while others suggest it goes back further back, to the time of the Persians who call it by a different name, Nas.
Finally, there are still others who believe that Texas Holdem has been introduced to our culture by the early French settlers.
Consequently, the etymology of Poker suggests a German derivative as it is akin to 'pochen', the German word which means, 'to knock'. Through the years, disputes about the game's origin have taken place but by virtue of the Texan legislation, Texas Holdem was officially born in Robston, Texas.
Holdem History Revealed
The game's growth however from being a virtual unknown in the card game industry to becoming the most popular game today started in the late 1960s when two brothers, Jack and Benny Binion bought the rights to a poker convention from Tom Moore.

What started out as a marketing strategy boomed into worldwide phenomena as players came by the hundreds to join the game. The series started with only eight registrants and grew tremendously over the years.
Poker literature of all the Holdem history also lent a hand in Texas Holdem steady rise to fame. A book called Super / System, written and self published by Doyle Brunson featured poker strategies and rules.
Another book shortly followed, 'The Biggest Game in Town' by Al Alvarez. His book details the game, the convention and the lives of players that join it.

Advanced Texas Holdem Tips - Advanced Position Plays

Advanced Texas Holdem Tips - Advanced Position Plays
Want to learn some advanced Texas Holdem Tips? This article is going to discuss advanced positions plays and how to make the most money at the poker table.
Advanced Texas Holdem Tips For Positional Plays
Plays based on position are an important factor into any successful Texas Holdem strategy. The fact is, you can't do the same things from a blind compared to mid positions compared to being on the button. Any strategy that gives a stock standard 'if you get dealt this card bet this amount' just won't cut it for advanced play.
Realise this first most crucial point:
Money travels clockwise from the small blind right around to the button.
To explain this in other words. It is easier to make money, i.e. win pots, if you are on the button. It gets slightly hard the more you move counter-clockwise, from late positions, to mid positions, to early positions, to blind positions. So by the time you've gotten to early and blind positions it is much much harder to win money.
This is simply because of the fact that at each betting round the players that must bet first have a disadvantage because they haven't seen how the other players have bet. They have no idea how the other players are doing post flop, turn, river, etc.
Likewise, the blinds have a negative expectation. This means that overall, you should expect that you will lose money when you are in the blinds. Yes, lose money. And this money should be recouped, and then some, when you are in later positions.
Some ways you can take advantage of being in a later position are:
- If everyone checks you can raise with poorer cards
- You can steal blinds easily without having to deal with the unknown of who is contesting the pot
- If a raise is made and everyone else folds you can choose to take a heads up
- You can reraise over players to force them in or out of a pot
- After the flop you can make your move depending on how you feel the other players did
- You have the options of checking/calling through draws without risking being reraised
- You know if you can bluff or fake a hand on a turn and guess how your opponents will react
- You have all the power at a showdown
There are many more advanced Texas Holdem tips however this information should be enough to open up your mind to the possibilities of utilising a later table position to increase your poker winnings.

Casino Games And Other Games People Play

Purpose is not to promote or condemn the human instinct to take chances; rather, we suggest a modicum of thought for the definition of and sensibleness of our natural tendency. After all, money was made for spending, not self-denial for the mistaken concept of morality.
Amidst the glitter and particular sounds of Casino Gaming, one can enjoy the presence of high rollers, low rollers, and holy rollers: all enjoy a game of chance. While many of the latter shun gambling for money, they would otherwise engage chancy investments in the business world or else work for others investing large amounts for the return of what else, money; notwithstanding, religionists chance the biggest gamble yet, a choice of afterlife vehicles from amongst the many advertising for commitment and perpetuating the outreach of overflowed collection plates; therefore, gambling must be a fun thing to do. Or, is chance-taking just an inherent necessity? Is there a farmer who has not gambled a year's wages on the capriciousness of weather, to have all hope lost in storm, drought, or pestilence? How about the entrepreneur who gambles his family's future on a failed enterprise and sees it collapse in failure? And how about the religionist, who embraces one of the 3000 plus Christian spin-offs, who deposits family funds in the collection plate of another; who fully realizes only one of the Christian nominations can be the right one according to scripture. Does he not make a bigger gamble than the reckless Casino gambler? Three thousand to one odds are the worst of odds!
Yes, we all take chances; however, in the Casino, certain forms of gambling are more risky than others. Surely it makes sense to spot the loose Slots and ignore lesser machines, opting for the machine recently on a losing cycle rather than one just abandoned after a winning cycle. And who would select the 7/5 Video Poker Slot over the 9/6. To do so is to considerably reduce the chance of winning. This author never plays a 7/5 machine (7 credits for a Full House and 5 credits for a Flush). The 8/5 is better but not as productive as the 9/6. Obviously. to increase odds of winning, players must advantage the more attractive perks and select the very best gambling choice for his investment.
By the same token, if one selects religion as his gaming favorite, in the race of life, he should be equally discriminatory of choice. After all, participants bet the ultimate stakes, their life. Does your choice represent the unilateral recommendation? Better yet, does it meet with all the limitations and exhortations posited in the only legal-historicity existing to attract your commitment? Does your commitment exceed or lack the harmony of prophecy and soteriology? Man's narcissistic and self-serving motive reassures his decision to chance spiritual correctness; however, history guarantees one's commitment to be based on exploitation and not guarantee of personal benefit. Chancing immortality, mankind devolves to motrality; thereafter, his sentient response deteriorates into trillions of minute particles, and with this disassembly vanishes his intellect, his hope of any recollection; but this entails a deeper study, although still subject to the impersonal character of chance.
Life is a constant parade of chances: wins, near misses, and losses; research is available to guide readers toward the right choice and odds value in the spin of life. At the Casino, our advice is to be a cautious and thinking gambler. Lose on the small bets and win on the larger bets. It's a good philosophy. On the game of life, against the professionals, a little advanced research will go a long ways toward creating a winner.

Tips For Beginning Roulette Players

A trip to the casino is, without a doubt, a special treat and a thrill-a-minute way to spend your spare time. Betting and casino games can be taken as seriously or as lightly as you wish, however, if you are planning to engage to any real degree with any of the games on offer, it will greatly enhance your enjoyment - not to mention your chances of winning - if you acquaint yourself a little more with the ins and outs of some of the games to be found on a casino visit.
Furthermore, Roulette is one of the most glamorous of casino games, and winning on the spin of the wheel is a special thrill, even for long-time casino veterans. For those just beginning, let's take a brief walk through some of the basics so that you are at least a little forewarned before entering the 'spin zone'.
There is no question that roulette is more of a friendly and social game, and is certainly much more interactive than some of the more out and out competitive games, such as Texas Hold 'em, or the entire solitary pursuit of the slot machine jackpot. You can relax a bit, interact and try your hand at a popular table game, all at once. First off, you will find one of two types of roulette wheel, either the American or the European. Whereas the European wheel is numbered 0-36, the American wheel has an extra '00' slot, which gives the casino an added advantage against you. Therefore, the beginner is advised to play on the European wheel, if possible. In addition, despite the fact that the numbers may appear to be randomly arranged, they are actually positioned so that the odds of landing on a high or a low, odd or an even number are all equal. By and large, however, you will find that, in roulette, the odds are with the house anyway, so enjoy your winnings-if you are lucky enough to land any!-and take them sooner rather than later. Winning once is not indicative of a phenomenal skill or talent, so take your money before the house takes it back!
Just a few pointers on etiquette: Find a table where you are happy with the stakes, as each table will have a set betting minimum. It is also normal for the dealer to give around a minute between games for the players to place their bets. Before the dealer announces, "No more bets," it is time to place your chips on the table. Remember not to get too carried away with either success or failure. It is also considered good form to give the dealer a tip roughly every tenth spin.
Within the game itself, there are five different types of bet. First is the straight bet, where you guess one particular number. Whilst your payoff for winning is high, your winning odds of 35-1 are not so good.
Second is the split bet, where you guess that one of two numbers will win. To indicate the split, you place your chip on the line separating the two numbers. Your odds are slightly better, at 17-1
Next is the stream bet, where you are betting that one of three numbers will win. Your odds here are 11-1. After this, we have the four number bet, which is pretty self-explanatory. A players odds of winning here are 8-1. Finally, you can choose the five-number bet. This one is unique, as it is only placed on an American roulette wheel. The bet is only for the number 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. Winning odds are 6-1. There are other types of bet: an outside bet, where you place chips on numbers on the outside portion of the table. You can choose a high or low number and whether it will be black or red. You might also consider a column bet, where you bet on the number falling into the top, middle or bottom column.
I hope that you will now be able to play with a little more confidence than before. Remember, have fun and, if you win, do not get too carried away; just take your winnings and run!

What Are Casino Nights?

Basically, casino nights are a recent trend to hit the party planning sphere. They involve setting up the party facility as a casino. The set up can be relatively simple and involve a couple card board tables and a set of cards and poker chips or it can be extremely elaborate with professional dealers and rented slot machines.
These nights have becomes popular for many reasons. When used at a fun party like an office holiday party, they give it a focus, they keep the guests entertained, and they work to break the ice between guests that do not know each other well. When the event is hosted by an individual they can ask the guests to buy into the games with real money which the host can use to offset the costs of planning, setting up and catering the night. However, if the party is put on by an employer, they can offer their employees fake money to play with, and then allow them to buy prizes with the fake money later in the evening. These events have also become popular for fundraising. When used in this way, the attendees are usually asked to buy into the games, and the money that the house wins is then donated to charities.
Regardless of why you want to plan your casino nights, you can be assured of having fun. They are great events that most guests love to attend, and they certainly will spark up any dull office parties or charity drives.

Casino Fundraising Night

Fundraising Goals
Typically, when asked the question "how much cash would you like to raise at your event?", most hosts understand that they haven't given it enough thought. They know what they'd like to do with the money made, what kind of theme they'd like to have, maybe even how many people are likely to come. But they frequently haven't put a figure on the amount they'd like to make.
Setting genuine goals for how much cash you would like to make is the major starting point for any successful fundraising event. The objective should determine the value of your tickets, the number of sponsorship you request and the limit of your overheads. A successful fundraiser doesn't have to be hard to organise - you just need to follow these steps:
Decide how much money you would like to make from the function.
Value your tickets accordingly so that they cover your outgoings and your desired profit goal.
Look into other sources of income on the night.
Minimise your overheads.
Draft a statement of your proposed income and overheads to see how you're tracking.
Obviously the key to your bottom line is to maximise your revenue and minimise your overheads. As fundamental as this concept is, a lot of event organisers disregard it when running a fundraiser.
This guide will aid you through the method of reckoning your revenue and expenses and give you extra tips to make the most out of your event so that you can meet or even exceed your goals.
Getting your ticket sales right is the single most important thing you can do when it comes to holding a successful fundraising event. If you price your tickets right and meet your sales goals everything else should fall into place with ease.
Ideally you would like your desired net profit for the event to be locked up by ticket sales before the function even starts. To do this, however, you need to price your tickets correctly and have a pretty good estimate of the number of tickets you are likely to sell.
Ask yourself the following questions to set your ticket price:
How much cash do you want to make? This will be your desired net gain.
How many tickets can you sell for this function?
What is the total of your expenses?
What is the total of your net profit and expenses? This will be your gross
Net profit + expenses = gross
Gross? tickets = ticket price
For example:
We wish to make $3500 from our function
We assume we can sell 200 tickets
Our total expenses are $1500
$3500 + $1500 = $5000
200 tickets = $25 per ticket, which covers your expenses and your desired profit.
If the price is possibly to be too high for the majority of your audience then you may need to look either at the potential to sell more tickets at a smaller price or reduce your expenses. Remember too that it's possible to under-charge your guests! If you know they'll be happy to pay a little more for the function you're offering them, don't be afraid to charge it.
By selling the proposed number of tickets and following the instructions above you will always understand your intended net profit and in most cases a higher number. If you don't sell the preferred number of tickets, however, or if your expenses are higher than budgeted then your net profit can be badly affected.
Remember though: if you've got your ticket selling right then everything else you raise on the night will be a bonus.
Ticket sales are usually your best source of revenue at a fundraiser. Wherever possible, you should try to lock up your desired net profit for the evening from ticket sales alone - that way everything you make from other things to do on the evening is a surplus and you also have a cushion against any unexpected expenses.
Make sure that you delegate the task of ticket sales to more than one person. It is far easier for 20 staff to sell 10 tickets each than for one person to sell 200. Hold each seller accountable for the sale of their allocation of tickets and make sure you promote you event as widely as possible - posters, e-mails, flyers, personal contact or other forms of publicity might all be relevant depending on your audience.
Bottom line: ticket sales is usually your primary source of revenue and the financial success of your function often depends on meeting your ticket sales goals. Promote widely and spread responsibility for sales.
The way you select to organise your food and drink package will vary depending on the format of your function and how you choose to structure your ticket prices. Usually the more costly the ticket, the more likely attendees are to expect food and at least a certain amount of drinks to be included. If all drinks are included, ensure this has been built into the ticket price.
Another option for functions where drinks aren't included in the ticket price is to provide two free "drink tickets" to each guest on entry. These might be redeemed at a rate of one ticket for a soft drink or two tickets for an alcoholic drink. Once these tickets have been used guests can purchase additional drink tickets or buy drinks over the bar.
Remember to make sure your drinks package includes options to suit all your guests, especially if you are buying the drinks yourself or using your club's existing bar. Don't forget to cater to all guests, including vegetarians.
Know your guests, understand their expectations and manage your bar wisely. Likewise, you need to achieve a harmony with your food package. Poor quality or not enough food might leave people feeling short changed, however, food is rarely a source of significant income and a wonderful meal isn't usually the focus of these events either so be careful not to go overboard.
Sponsorship can be a great way to source extra revenue for your function. There are a few ways you can pursue sponsorships for a casino fundraiser. One is to solicit sponsorship for the entire function. One or more companies may want to pay a bigger number to sponsor the event as a whole. Alternatively, they could sponsor individual parts of the evening such as the auctions or a specific part of the amusement program.
Casino table sponsorship is another option. The sponsorship number should, ideally, be enough to cover the cost of the table and staff. Signs can be displayed on the table to give recognition to the sponsors.
Sponsors can also provide marketing items or small prizes to be handed out at the table - the sponsor could give pens with their logo to be given away to anyone who is dealt a blackjack, for example.
When you first approach a potential sponsor, make sure you can tell them what's in it for them. This might include:
Exposure through their logo being included on function posters, flyers, e-mails, programs and/or signage on the night.
Recognition in speeches during the night.
Free tickets to the function for them and their customers, family or friends.
The opportunity to hand out promotional items on the night. You can organise your own showbags and give multiple sponsors the opportunity to include promotional items in them.
Promotion on your organisation's website for a set period before and after the function.
Opportunity for dealers or other event staff to wear hats, shirts or uniforms provided by the sponsor. Please discuss this option with your function manager prior to making any agreements with sponsors - as not all requests may be realistic or relevant.
Remember that sponsorships may be financial or they may be in the form of donations such as prizes for auctions.
Also remember that the more you ask from a sponsor, the more they are likely to expect in return, and that if different sponsors are donating different amounts there should be a difference in the level of exposure they receive.
Make sure you give sponsors value for cash. If they feel as though they are getting value in return for their donation they'll be more likely to attend the event and sponsor the function again in future years.
Auctions
Two types of auctions are common at fundraising functions - live auctions and silent auctions. Both can produce significant revenue, however, they need to be carefully managed to understand their full potential.
There are lots key ingredients to a profitable live auction:
Make sure you have a responsive audience. close the casino tables and other activities during the auctions to make sure you have everybody's full focus.
Shorter is better. Your live auction should at best last for no more than 30 minutes to keep your guests engrossed.
Less is more. Generally it's best to have fewer items that you can charge a higher price for rather than too many lower-cost items.
Use an experienced, dynamic auctioneer. The person on the microphone can make or break your auction. A good auctioneer will keep the guests amused, engaged and bidding.
Silent auctions provide an opportunity to make extra funds. They largely run themselves during the night, however, substantial organisation is needed before and after the function to make them work. Typically supplementary sponsors need to be found to donate the items being auctioned and to collect money off the triumphant bidders at the conclusion of the auctions.
Assess the amount of silent auction items you can realistically expect to be given for your event, the amount of revenue you could expect to raise from them and how the silent auctions will be incorporated with the other activities being run on the evening.
Signage should clearly state if you accept credit cards, cheques, cash only or how long after the event the winning bidders have to pay. Silent auctions can provide your function with significant extra revenue as well, however, they need to be run very carefully to be profitable.
Overheads
The fundamental rule regarding expenses is to keep them to a minimum without effecting your function.
